The Kaukauna Common
Council voted 9-1 Thursday night to establish a full-time mayor post for the
1968 election. The action concurs with an advisory referendum earlier this year
in which, the majority of, the voters indicated they wanted this change.
Alderman Rogers pointed out that the complexities of today's city government
required the services of a full-time mayor, and that the lack of time of a
part-time mayor was a big point. Many projects would be completed or more
action taken on them if the chief executive could devote more time on them.
This would also provide better management for the city.

water wheel and stone mill, it being a replica of an earlier one former mayor
Lewis F. Nelson had built many years ago on
the grounds of the old Badger Tissue Mills. Ceremonies Saturday afternoon
dedicated the replica of an old-fashioned water wheel to the memory of the late
Lewis F. Nelson, twice mayor of Kaukauna, 1937-40 and 1942-46, "for his
untiring efforts in the preservation of the Grignon
Home and his efforts in preserving the historic and natural beauties of
