The Legion football
team is anxious to rid its game of the unwelcome guests who have been piling up
the Fred Reichel lumber behind the fence so that they can see the games without
expense. Mr. Reichel has authorized the Legion to put an end to this condition.
Get inside the gates, boys, no real fan ever tries to sponge a ball game.
November 10, 1921
Ferdinand Meinert was
the victim of a peculiar and distressing accident when he was run over by his
automobile and sustained a compound fracture of both legs a trifle above the
ankle. Mr. Meinert was working on his car when his daughter started up the car
which plunged forward and caught Mr. Meinert and forced him against the cement
wall of the garage. Medical aid was promptly summoned, and the man given the
necessary attention.
John Vanden Berg of Little Chute was instantly
killed Wednesday morning when his automobile collided with the Appleton-Green
Bay bus at the intersection of Main and Wilson streets. Vanden berg with his
son Henry was driving a Chevrolet car. Henry was not injured in the accident.
November 17, 1921
Floyd Scholl of this
city while driving between this city and Appleton collided with a farmer's rig
last Monday near Little Chute with the result that the farmer's horse was
killed. The accident occurred while Scholl was passing the rig.
The Kaukauna American
Legion football team, playing the entire game in a mild blizzard, and on a
muddy and slippery field, defeated Little Chute, 16-0, deciding the
championship of the Fox River Valley.
November 24, 1921
Stephen Peeters
recently received information of his appointment as village postmaster and is
waiting for the official confirmation before he can enter upon his duties.
Volleyball, the tired businessman’s game that
is guaranteed to make fat, punchy men light as a fairy will be played every
Friday afternoon at the Auditorium.
At a joint meeting of the forces of the C.
& N. W. shops of the city held Thursday evening it was unanimously voted to
accept a five-day week instead of a reduction in the working force. Some of the
workers who were laid off last June experienced considerable trouble in
locating jobs within the city.
Otto Lambrecht, a young man of this city, was
shot Sunday morning at De Pere by a marine who was acting as mail guard. One
shot shattering the bone in his left arm while another struck his right arm. A
third shot grazed his heart. Lambrecht and Jack Pomeroy, also of Kaukauna, were
attempting to catch a ride on the train which was heading south to Kaukauna.
The guards have orders to shoot to kill. Lambrecht is currently at St.
Vincent’s hospital in Green Bay. His condition is not serious.
