July 7, 1954

These youngsters at Beaulieu Hill park pitched in and gave the playground a thorough cleaning. As a reward the youngsters were treated to a Weiner roast by the park supervisor. Vince Hartzheim scored the first hole in one at Fox Valley course this season when he aced the ninth hole in play last week.

 

During the month of June over 25,000 youngsters used the facilities of the Kaukauna Memorial swimming pool.

 

July 16, 1954

Emil Giordana, who served the Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for the past 37 years is shown receiving the congratulations of C. R. Seaborne executive vice president of the company on his retirement.

 

The Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company has just concluded negotiations with union representatives and has announced the new pay raises. A wage increase amounting to 3 percent with a minimum of 5 cents per hour for male employees and 4 cents per hour for female employees.

Miss Marie Kerry has made speaking acquaintance with almost everyone in town who pays a light bill. Fellow workers presented her with a gift and flowers upon her retirement Friday. 


Almost as many building permits have been issued during the first six months of 1954 as were issued during the entire year of 1953 according to figures released from the office of the City engineer on July 1.

 July 21, 1954

 

The official opening and dedication of the Kimberly-Little Chute Bridge will be observed this Sunday. The 1047-foot structure cost has been set at $980,305.40 of which 50% is paid by the Federal government, 25 percent by the state and 25 percent by Little Chute and Kimberly. A parade with about 30 units and several drum and bugle corps, twirling corps and numerous fraternal, military and civic organizations will be represented.

 

July 28, 1954

An estimated 10,000 people thronged the parade route to witness the parade and dedication ceremonies Sunday of the new Community Bridge connecting the Villages of Little Chute, Kimberly and Combined Locks.


 

Sunday’s Regatta race in Kaukauna saw boats reaching speeds up to 75 miles per hour with crowds looking on from the shore of the Fox River.

 

 

Jack Maypole is shown with the large trophy after winning the VFW sponsored outboard boat race here Sunday.

  

The Kaukauna high school band marching down Wisconsin Avenue to celebrate the Kaukauna Regatta outboard boat race.

 

Eight young men from Kaukauna and the surrounding area have been inducted into service this week. Kaukauna youths include Robert Schubring, Joseph Lewandoski Jr., Merlin School and Eugene Jacoby. Daniel Jansen and Lyle Levknecht from Kimberly. Norbert Siebers, Little Chute and Lyle De Valk Combined Locks.

 

The Webelos award, highest honor in cub scouting was presented to Dale Van Dyke by his father Harold Van Dyke, assistant scoutmaster of Pack 27. Left Grover Patterson institution representative and right Loyal Belongea, right advancement officer for the troop.
