August 2, 1912
N. A. Foxgrover and
Peter Nettekoven were at Partridge Lake Sunday and had fine luck catching
sunfish and perch. Mr. Nettekoven caught a Mississippi bullhead which weighed
20 pounds.
With the present high stage of water as result
of last week’s floods the mills are jubilant. This will save many of the mills
fuel costs of $50 to $100 a day.
The Kaukauna Building
and Loan association announced that the month of July aggregated $4,200 in
loans and that money is still strong among home owners.
The Outagamie County Training School will be
located in Kaukauna, it was decided last Monday at a meeting in Appleton.
August 9, 1912
M. A. Raught introduced
a resolution to place a drinking bubbler on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and
Lawe Street on the north side and the corner of Lawe and Second Street on the
Southside.
August 16, 1912
Mr. Thomas Rohan was
badly injured Monday by an enraged bull. Mr. Rohan's faithful shepherd dog came
to is rescue and caught the bull by one of his ears fighting him savagely. Mr.
Rohan suffered a badly bruised head and a hip injury.
August 23, 1912
The government
transport Fox arrived in Kaukauna with a barge in tow carrying the largest load
of soft coal ever hauled up river from Green Bay, the cargo consisting of 375
tons. Most of the load was left in the government yard.
August 30, 1912
A large auto driven by
Frank Hoberg and a party of friends from Green Bay had a wheel ripped off
between here and Kimberly Saturday night and was hauled into the garage of the
Kaukauna Motor Sales Co. for repairs. Every spoke in one of the front wheels
was broken to splinters. No one was injured.
