The
resolution of Kaukauna’s disposal problems was nearly abated Monday night when
Town of Buchanan chairman Joseph DeBruin and dumpsite manager James Lehrer were
denied attendance at the Board of Public Works meeting in city council
chambers. All others were admitted but not DeBruin and Lehrer who were invited
guests. When the doors were opened George Simon chairman of the board offered
Lehrer an additional $200 a month. Lehrer rejected the offer stating that this
would not cover the additional services required.
Keith
Kuehl, 12 years old, of Kaukauna bagged this four-point buck while hunting with

When
Karen Klister, a Kaukauna student nurse, shot a deer on opening day of the
season she placed a challenge before her mother who had never had such luck in
twenty hunting seasons. Her mother, Bette, met her the challenge later that
same day and shot a deer of her own.
The Selective Service version of “Let’s Make A Deal”
has worked wonders for some draft aged young men. Under the previous method men
were drafted between the ages of 19 and 26. The oldest went first. Thus, for
seven years, they wondered when they would be drafted. The Selective Service
has now created a lottery pool that only effects men born between January 1, 1944
and December 31, 1950 for the year 1970.

Wisconsin at Madison.

A
former resident of Kaukauna now living in Oregon, sent a note with a renewal of
his subscription of the Times. He is Charles Bloch, who has a special interest
in The Times as he was a carrier boy when home delivery began on May 18, 1926.
Carl Hansen remembers the day well. “I drove past Holy Cross school grounds and
saw a group of boys playing ball I stopped and asked if any of them would like
to peddle papers for The Times. Four of them volunteered and Charlie was one of
them.
Somewhere
in the confines of northern Kaukauna a cookie thief is lurking. Sometime while
the owner was away the thief struck the refrigerator in the garage and hijacked
the entire amount of Christmas cookies. Only a couple of crumbs remained on the
floor. Authorities are looking for anyone who suddenly gained several pounds of
weight before Christmas.
