February 1, 1952

The biggest Dollar Days in the history of Kaukauna got off to a “Flying Start” Thursday as shoppers from near and far came to take advantage of the wide variety of bargains offered by the merchants of Kaukauna.


Royal Nelson, 5, of Jefferson Street, suffered a broken left leg Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by an automobile on Draper Street. 

 

February 6, 1952

Edwin Lemke was elected chairman of scout troop committee for Boy Scout troop 27 at St. Mary’s. 


February 13, 1952

Approximately 40 Kaukauna High School students attended the Square Dance at the Youth Center Saturday night. The dance was limited to Juniors and Seniors because of the lack of space. Director Fred Barribeau called the dances for the students.


Donna Mae Ludvigsen, 5, West Third Street was injured when she was struck by an automobile on the corner of 3rd and Main Avenue. She suffered a head injury along with scrapes.


February 27, 1952

Karl E. Stansbury was honored by old friends and well-wishers that gathered at the Elks Club Monday to honor the modest man who is chairman of the board of Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company. The warm glow of good will and friendliness brightened the crowd of two hundred who packed the dining room.


February 29, 1952

The flag from the casket of George Bodde, who was killed in World War I, was presented to the Kaukauna fire department by his family. The Bodde’s had four sons that served in the war.


Thomas A. Lancour, seaman apprentice, USN, E. Ninth Street Kaukauna, has completed recruit training at the US Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.   


Pvt. Edward E. Vondracek, Florence Street, Kaukauna, is stationed with the army at Fort Jackson, South Caroline.


Pfc. William Blajeski, Wilson Street, recently completed a ten-week course at a tank leadership school at Fort Hood, Texas. He has been promoted to corporal.


Pvt. Arthur F. Nagel, Sarah Street, has been assigned to McAndrew AFB, Argentina, Newfoundland. Nagel has been in the Army for 7 months and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1946.

 

John J. Hermans, George Street, has recently completed his training at Great Lakes, Ill., and is now attending radio school at San Diego, Calif.

 

Airman Robert Wittmann, Rt. 1 Kaukauna, is stationed with the Navy Air Force at the Naval Air Base, Atlantic City, N. J.


PFC. Robert Wirth, East Eighth Street, has recently been transferred to the bakery division of the Food Service Squadron at Lackland Airforce Base, San Antonia, Texas.


PFC. William Weber, Whitney Street, has been promoted to corporal. Weber is serving with the Army at Fort Hood, Texas.


PVT. Richard Roberts, W. Wisconsin Avenue, has arrived in Korea and is serving with the 196th Field Artillery. 


David Gustman, John Street, is attending Officers Candidate school at the United States Naval Training Center, Newport, Rhode Island.


Donald R. Kessler USN, Kaukauna Street, is serving aboard the U.S.S. Newport (PF-27) which has been actively engaged in the Far East Theater since the Korean incident.


PFC Vincent M. Vissers. Pine St. Little Chute left the snow-covered Korean front for rotation to the United States. Vissers is with the 90th Field Artillery Battalion of the 25th Division for the past 10 months.


Sergeant John W. Kobussen, Fifth Street, is serving with the supply squadron of the United States Air Force in Germany.


Corporal Robert Strom, Oviatt Street, spent the weekend with his parents. He is stationed at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Ill. Cpl. Strom is serving as a medical technician in the hospital.


Pvt. Richard J. Balza, East 5th Street, recently received completed his assigned course in the Signal School at Fort Monmouth, N. J.

 

Aviation Electricians Mate Gerald A. Kempen, USN, is serving aboard the USS Kula Gulf, an aircraft carrier which recently returned from a resupply expedition to Greenland. 


Private William Vander Loop, Maria Street, had served in Korea for the last six months with the 19th Infantry regiment is now stationed in Japan. He is a draftsman with the 34th Division.


Seaman Recruit Donald Nagan is spending a 14-day leave with is parents on W. Seventh Street. He arrived home from the naval training center, Great Lakes, Ill., where he recently completed his boot training.
