Consecration services lor the new addition of the
Kaukauna Methodist Church will take place next Sunday morning at the church
with two special guests, the Rev. H. Clifford Northcot. resident bishop and the
Rev. Roy P. Steen, district superintendent assisting pastor Paul E. Stevens in
the service.
October 6, 1954
Buddy Poppy Day got
underway in Kaukauna with the first poppy being sold to Mayor Joseph Bayorgeon
at his office by Dennis Plzak, 5-year son of Mrs. Harriette Plzak.
The torrential downpours to which Kaukauna was
subjected over the past weekend caused many thousands of dollars’ worth of
damage throughout the city according to city engineer John Stauss. The greatest
proportion of the damage was done to basements.

Chairmen of the apron and fancy work booths,
Mrs. Edmund Kline and Mrs. Walter Ren are requesting donations of woman in the
congregation for the booths at the annual fall festival of St. Mary’s parish.

Ten members
of the Nicolet elementary school Safety Patrol received badges from Sergeant
Oscar Jahn of the Kaukauna police force. Shown left to right are Judy Thompson,
Tom Johnson, Gerry Pitt, Wayne Merbach, Jerome Litscher, Dennis Brogan, Tom Lettau,
Charles Schmitt, Carol Artz and Charlotte Wydenven.
Clifford Rogers was elected president
of the Kaukauna High School chapter of the National Honor Society, last
Tuesday.
William Sloggy, of Duluth, was selected to
replace James Marvin as head librarian at the Kaukauna Free Public Library
according to Loyd Broehm, president of the Kaukauna Library Board.
In the two starts the KHS freshmen have beaten
Menasha by 27-0 and McKinley Junior High of Appleton by the score of 26-6.
October 15, 1954
Construction is progressing slowly because of the recent rainy spells on the new addition to the St. Mary’s parochial school on Kaukauna's south side.
Directors of the Fox
Valley Golf Club held their first meeting after the elections. Standing are
Norbert Becker, Martin Janssen, Orville Tracy, Jerry Van Abel and Arthur
Mongin. Seated are Howard Paschen, Wayne Carr, Robert Derus and Bernard
Bongers.
October 22, 1954
Ken Roloff of Kaukauna, a junior this season
with Central State, accomplished the following in the Pointers’ thrilling 16-13
triumph over Milwaukee. He booted the 37-yard winning field goal. He caught the
pass scoring the tying touchdown. He caught a total of eight passes in the
game. He kicked the point after each touchdown.

Miss Mary Van Zeeland was
queen over Homecoming festivities at the Electric City Bowl. Attending the
queen will be a court of two Miss Mary Lou Berens and Miss Yvonne Van Zeeland.
A 63-yard touchdown run by speedy Jack Jansen
and a blocked punt on the Shawano four-yard line by Ray Vils who then ran it in
for the touchdown plus a perfect conversion kick by Jack Coenen gave the KHS
Galloping Ghosts a 13-0 Homecoming victory over the Shawano Indians Friday
night.

Members of the American
Legion Post 41 and Electric City Post 3319 of the Veterans of foreign Wars have
joined forces to furnish new flags to merchants throughout Kaukauna. Shown
displaying one of the flags are Loyal Belongea, Michael Gerharz, Fred Mason and
Cliff Woods.
