The
Lang Trophy Winner of Kaukauna High School
A reopening investigation into the drowning
death of Michael Spaude, 29, of Seymour, is continuing. Coroner Bernard Kemps
ordered the disinterment of the body buried Wednesday for examination. Pressed
for detail, neither Kemps, nor Little Chute Police Chief Robert Nechodom would
disclose any hard data. “We suspect foul play.” Nechodom said. Spaude’s body
was discovered in the navigation canal in Little Chute on May 27.
Marine Private First-Class Nancy Vander Heiden,
Kaukauna, has completed the Basic Supply Stock Control Course. Vander Heiden is
a 1974 graduate of Kaukauna High School.

Raises of approximately 9.85 percent were
approved for the Kaukauna Area School District’s teachers and top
administrators by the Board of Education.
June 12, 1979
Father John Bernstadt, co-pastor of Holy Cross
Parish, will leave Kaukauna the end of June after serving the parish for seven
years.
The Rev. William Jannusch will be
installed as minister of the Kaukauna United Methodist Church on Sunday, June
17.

City police will continue looking into the use
of an electronic noise measurement unit as proof that vehicles are noisy.
Public protection and safety committee members Tuesday asked chief Gerald Lopez
to study use of the meter after a presentation by Environmental Protection
Agency noise control specialist.

Gas was short and lines
were long as truckers halted fuel deliveries to gas stations in the area.
Every craps player hopes he has the hot hand to
roll eleven when he’s on the dice table, but it was the ball diamond where
eleven turned out to be the lucky number for three teams in the city’s American
league last week. Rich and Sally’s, Bank of Kaukauna and Butch and Sue’s all
posted wins last Thursday and each scored eleven runs in doing so.
The renown softball whiz, Eddie Feigner, will
bring his bag of pitching tricks to Kimberly for a game this Friday, June 29 in
Sunset Park. The King and his Court will pit themselves against Wydeven’s
Associates of this year’s classic League. This is the 34th straight
year the softball showman has been on the road, dazzling crowds and opposing
batters alike.

Not surprisingly wholesale jumps in the retail
price of fuel have prompted a lot of people to jump on the Valley Transit bus
for trips throughout the Fox Valley. Valley Transit reports ridership for June
is up about 20 to 30 percent.
If passed this week by the State Assembly and
signed by Gov. Dreyfus, the biennial budget will include $50,000 for the
Thousand Island Environmental Center.
