It might be of interest
to the public to know that Kaukauna has a school for the deaf children which is
maintained by the state and taught by Miss Maud McGinty of Appleton. This
school is housed in Park School and has an enrollment of seven. The school has
been in operation for the last ten years and much has been accomplished by the
students.
Rev. Conrad Ripp
St. Mary’s church was filled to capacity with
priests of the Green Bay diocese, hundreds of lay people, relatives and friends
as a mass was conducted this morning by Rt. Rev. Paul P. Rhode, bishop of Green
Bay diocese for the repose of the soul of Rev. Conrad Ripp, 54, pastor of St.
Mary’s congregation, who died Friday noon of a heart attack.
March 4, 1932
Amay Bayorgeon copped most of the honors there
is in the Inter-City league Wednesday evening when he rolled a 700 for three
games, setting a record for the season.
March 8, 1932
Last week the Catholic high schools of the Fox
river valley held their annual basketball tournament in St. Norbert’s college
gymnasium. St. John’s Little Chute placed 2nd in the event.
March 11, 1932
Emmet Rohan, son of William Rohan
has been elected “District Attorney” of the Moot at Marquette University in
Milwaukee. The Moot Court is part of the instruction given at the law school at
Marquette.
March 18, 1932
Confirmation will take
place at Immanuel Reformed Church. There will be ten members. They are Carol
Anderson, Ruth Gorschals, Bina Hahneman, Wesley Jirikowic, Ralph Johnson, Fred
Kobs, Norman Meinert, Lorraine Sager, Leonard Sager and Wanda Tousey.
A program of immunization against diphtheria is
to be started in Kaukauna on March 29. A consent letter will be sent to parents
by the city nurse. Miss Flynn urges parents to sign the letter and return it so
the campaign may get under way.
According to Olin G. Dryer, there are 29
youths who have filed applications for this summers’ citizens’ military
training camps. Mr. Dryer oversees the applications.
March 22, 1932
Francis Coffey, son of
Mr. and Mrs. John W. Coffey of Kaukauna, is pledge of the Marquette University
Chapter of Phi Chi, International Medical Fraternity. Coffey is a first-year
student in the school of medicine in Milwaukee.
March 29, 1932
N. E. Lummerding has
opened a paint store in the Lummerding building located at the east end of
Second Street. A stock has been secured and the place is now open for business.
A telegram received today by Dr. W. C. Sullivan
noted that a carload of horses from the west is to arrive today. The sale is to
begin on Thursday. It is expected that many hundreds of farmers will be in the
city this week to look over or buy the horses.
