Funeral services for James Edward McFadden, 79, will be held this morning, who died at his home at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, after a long illness. McFadden was a railroad man for 20 years and on the Kaukauna police force for 35 years, serving the last 12 years as chief of police. He served two terms as City treasurer and was an insurance agent for the last ten years.


The Class of 1962 commencement took place with 192 seniors graduating.


June 8, 1962

A new bicycle was presented to Ellen Courtney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Courtney by Clarence Theis of the Rotary safety committee, for her award-winning bicycle safety slogan, submitted at the recent Rotary Club sponsored bike safety school at the high school auditorium. Ellen’s slogan was “Safe Bicycles Make Safe Drivers.”


The Kaukauna Public Library Board has appointed Mrs. Lloyd DuChaine to the position of head Librarian.


June 13, 1962

Glen C. Miller, a member of the class of 1925 and now Executive Director of the Chicago White Sox Minor League system, will be rallymaster at the annual Kaukauna High School Alumni reunion this Saturday.


June 15, 1962

The formal dedication and open house at the new $60,000 Kaukauna Knights of Columbus building, located on Highway 41, north of the city, will take place this Sunday, according to a recent announcement by Grand Knight Robert Niesen.


June 27, 1962

Miss Abbie Brenzel is among the 11 students at the University of Wisconsin pledged as historian to the U.W. Alpha Phi social sorority.
