The environmental Committee members have prepared a budget of $29,425 for operations in 1983, which they indicated was about 9% more than what was allotted last year in 1982. Naturalist Lee Hammen stated that 27% of the attendance came from outside the city and 27% were not district residents. The general public provided 31% those who visit at the center and 18 per cent from schools.

Kaukauna Credit Union will hold an open house at its new southside office at 1616 crooks Ave from 1:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 12th. Prior to the construction two houses were removed which afforded room for the handsome lawn and building and two good sized parking lots. Work started just a year ago this week. Now in its 15th year, the Kaukauna Credit Union traces its origins back to the Thilmany Credit Union. In 1970 the name was changed to Kaukauna.

An investigation has continuing into the death of an Appleton man at the Thilmany lower mill moments before noon yesterday. The name of the victim has not yet been released nor were the circumstances of the accident completely clear. Kaukauna paramedics were called to the mill at 11:59 AM and attempted to revive the victim after he was freed by mill workers.

Scout Troop No. 104 of St. Aloysius Parish commence their fall program with a Court of Honor Tuesday evening at the school social hall. Parents and scouts on hand bid farewell to retiring scout master Steve Keller, who will assume leadership of St. Mary's troop No. 50 in Menasha where he resides. Roger Thompson took over the role of Troop 104 Scoutmaster and received a troop neckerchief as a sign of his acceptance.

Ron Margelofsky replaces Jim Meyers as coach of the Kaukauna high school basketball team. “One goal I have is I like to play winning basketball by using as many players as possible in the game.”

Incumbent Rep. William Rogers of Kaukauna eked out a tiny win and Tuesday's Democratic primary election, defeating first time challenger Gary Schmidt by only 48 votes in the new 83rd assembly district.

Mark Zuleger was the top golfer Friday for Kaukauna High School in the conference meet for Fox Valley Association schools. He turned in a 75 for the fourth best score of the day.

Bruce Hammen of Little Chute had his first-ever hole-in-one while golfing recently in Seymour. He used a 4-iron of a 160-yard hole.

After about six years of seeking financing and then agonizing over whether it's really need it, Kaukauna will apparently get its new Wisconsin Ave lift bridge. Common council members gave approval to the $3.1 million project Tuesday night acting on a recommendation of the Board of Public works. The city share of the project involves about 1.8 million while the remaining half goes to Outagamie County.
