Kaukauna's part in the 1953 March of Dimes drive will get into full swing with an extensive door to door solicitation, the first in many years, according to David Flanagan, Kaukauna March of Dimes chairman. This year's goal is set at the $1,500 mark. Last year's drive netted about $1,200 from the city.

Mark Hoegh was busy signing autographs after the reception in his honor in the high school gym.

The city of Kaukauna honored Mark Hoegh, the Kaukauna football star who became the first from this city to ever play in the Rose Bowl or letter at the University of Wisconsin, last Friday, and 850 townspeople and students attended the testimonial, which was held in the high school auditorium. Many people spoke at the program, all holding high regards for the Kaukauna athlete. Following the speeches, Hoegh received a standing ovation from the large crowd. Hoegh, touched by the ovation, said, "Thanks from the bottom of my heart to the people of the greatest little city in the world. There aren't enough words in the dictionary to tell you how I really feel."

The construction of the addition to the Kaukauna High school was slowed last week when the excavation struck the foundation of the old Opera House on Oak street.
