Papers were issued on Monday for the arrest of a schoolteacher in the town of Buchanan. The teacher was charged with cruelly beating a child in his class. The child has been in very dangerous health since that time.

David Moses, the husband of the bowery fat bride of one month who died in Baltimore ten days ago has sold her body to Dr. Alexander Hill. The Dr. agreed to pay him $100, and Moses snapped at the offer. The Dr. wants the body for dissection and for the skeleton which he plans to place in his office.

Madison, Wis. – Ten minutes before 2 o’clock on the afternoon of the 8th the great iron pillars supporting the roof of the second story of the balcony of the south wing of the capitol fell with a terrible crash. Amid the successive crashes the wild cries of the imprisoned and crushed workmen sent a thrill of horror throughout the capital. About forty masons, plasterers, laborers, and carpenters were at work upon the wing. The local hook and ladder company rendered efficient assistance.

That girl, who decks herself in the latest things and goes out and parades in the street, while her mother does the washing, isn't worth wasting much time on.

Two ladies were looking over the newspaper. “Oh my, how funny,” “Why here’s an advertisement that says, “No reasonable offer refused.” “What’s so odd about that?” “Nothing, nothing,” she replied, trying not to blush, “Only those are exactly my sentiments.”

Lynchburg, Va. – Two young farm boys, Spooler and Newcome ages 10 and 14 were sitting in the stable yard talking. Newcome was chewing tobacco and Spooler remarked that he looked as if he enjoyed chewing. Newcome remarked that he always hated borrowing and had made it the rule of his life that he would shoot the first man that ever asked him for a chew of tobacco. Spooler then asked him for a chew. Newcome reached into his pocket and drew a small pistol and shot him. Spooler died within an hour. Since the shooting the young murder has been overwhelmed with grief and said he is it in a fit of passion.
