Juvenile Catholic Order
of Foresters at St. Mary’s parish elected this group of officers at a recent
meeting: Judy Sachs, flag bearer; Judy Whittaker sentinel; Yvonne Van Toll and
Donna Spaulding, conductors; Carol Gerhartz, vice chief ranger; Mary Jane Golden
sentinel; Doris DeBruin, chief ranger; and Beth Belongea, flag bearer.
At noon Thursday a sturgeon in the river drew a
fine crowd of on lookers. The folks cheered as the fish made its way up a small
rapid. The gates have been opened to lower the high-water levels.

Badger Boy’s State
Representative from Little Chute Legion Post 258 will be James Locy, on
top, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Locy and Dan Ourada son of Mr. and Mrs.
F. H. Ourada.
Kaukauna’s mayor Joseph “Doty” Bayorgeon, did the honors Sunday afternoon throwing out the first ball at the Kaukauna VFW League opener. Local VFW commander Charles Egan was on the receiving end of the mayor’s well controlled pitches.

Reigning at the junior
prom last Friday at Kaukauna High School were Queen Margie Schmidt and King
George Zwick; senior representative Allegra Nimmer and Ronald Sanders;
sophomore representatives Norma McGoey and Joe Hinkens, freshman
representatives, Ione Kruse and Keith Head.
James F. Cavanaugh, 76, for 21 years
superintendent of Kaukauna schools and prominent civic figure, died Friday
after an illness of four months. Cavanaugh came to Kaukauna in 1923, with the
opening of the new high school building and retired in 1944.
Walter P. Hagman, principal of the Outagamie county Rural Normal School for the past 33 years, announced that he will retire at the end of this school year.
The Kaukauna Police department took delivery of
their new three-wheeled patrol unit Wednesday. This vehicle will be used for
patrolling and for the enforcement of parking limitations.
May 21, 1952
Sam Dubow, 34 of Ironwood,
Michigan, will assume duties as physical education director and head coach at
Kaukauna High School next fall. He will replace Guy Krumm as head coach and
Fred Barribeau as physical education instructor.
May 23, 1952
“Maplewood,” the home on Wisconsin avenue,
built by the late C. W. Stribley in 1912, has been sold to Joe Schouten. The
Schouten family will move into their newly acquired home in about 90 days.
May 28, 1952
Sister M. Beata, who this year is
completing her twenty-fifth year as a kindergarten teacher at St. Mary’s
Kaukauna, was feted at a silver jubilee celebration last Sunday.
Coach Wayne Hull’s Kaukauna High school baseball squad battled Kimberly for 12 innings last week before gaining a 4-3 decision. The win enabled the Ghosts to retain their WIAA district championship.
