Kaukauna High School
won its fifth consecutive conference football championship last Friday,
defeating Shawano 12-0, before a crowd of 2,500 people. This was Kaukauna's
ninth title in the past 14 years.
November 6, 1942
Orland S. Loomis progressive,
attorney of Mauston, became governor elect of Wisconsin as a result of the
general election held in the state last Tuesday. He will succeed Governor Julius P. Heil at
Madison on January 1.
November 11, 1942
According to present figures members of the
senior class must raise $1,168.90 to finance their yearbook, the Papyrus.
November 13, 1942
Two days remain during
which motorists from Kaukauna and vicinity can register for basic mileage
rations at the council chambers of the municipal building. Registration opened
yesterday and will be continued today and tomorrow. Persons whose names start
with letters A to H were to have
registered yesterday and those I to Q today, and those R to Z, tomorrow. Any persons who were unable to register are
to register today or tomorrow for gas rationing.
The Labor Secretary reported that between now
and December 1, 1943, industry will need 4,500,000 additional workers and of
this number 3,000,000 will be women.
November 25, 1942
Rationing of coffee
will begin Sunday, November 29.
Housewives were advised to jot down the amount of coffee over one pound
per eligible person they have on hand.
Any person holding a ration book showing his age as 15 years or older
will be eligible to get coffee. Rationing of coffee will begin Sunday, November
29, after the present "freeze" period from midnight November 21 to
midnight November 28. Housewives were advised to jot down the amount of coffee
over one pound per eligible person they have on hand November 28, as this
amount will be charged against them later on.
Carl Giordana, former Kaukauna star on the football field, was recently placed on the first team all-star team of the Midwest Conference for his efforts at Lawrence College this past season.
