Isaac "Ike" Belongea backed a big "J" engine out of the Kaukauna roundhouse Saturday morning. It was Ike’s birthday, and he was taking No. 2553, biggest engine operating out of Kaukauna shops, for his last run. Ike's career stretches over 47 years from his beginnings in the shop in 1905.

George Brenzel was named Uthrotor for the month of March by a vote of the high school faculty.

Miss Madge Dooley, 4th from the right, was honored last Sunday morning at the Methodist church with a testimonial dinner. Madge is retiring after teaching Sunday school for the past 48 years.

Principal figures in Kaukauna's effort to develop a community hospital are Dr. George Boyd, James E., Bambery, co-chairmen of the Community Hospital committee and E. H. Jennings, chairman of the fund committee.

St. Mary's children’s choir sang the Mass of Angels marking funeral services Monday morning for Danny Wolf, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aloysius Wolf, West Third Street. His death Saturday morning apparently resulted from head injuries sustained in a fall on an icy sidewalk when he was on his way to school Tuesday morning.

Groundwork is about completed for the $600,000 Kaukauna High School addition. Brick layers are expected here in about a week to start work on the walls of the three story structure.

Every day Holy Cross elementary school and convent are taking shape. This week the school and convent were roofed over, and structural steel is being installed on the gymnasium.

Building in Kaukauna during 1952 almost reached the 1.5-million-dollar mark in estimated cost according to the annual report of the office of the city and building inspector. The building inspector issued 399 permits.

The construction of the new 1040-foot Little Chute bridge spanning the Fox river can be seen from the looking down photo. The project is expected to be completed in early 1954.
