Dan Wirth has just returned from a five-month course in cake and pastry baking at the Dunwoody Institute School of Baking in Minneapolis. Dan is the son of Harry Wirth, owner of the Hill Top Bakery and will join his Dad on the staff. Dan is a 1972 graduate of Kaukauna high school.

More than 200 students have been reported absent from city schools and most of those have been attributed to the latest strain of flu, according to school officials and school nurse Mrs. Marilyn Yeager.

The era of police motorcycles in Kaukauna sputtered off into the past as a rural Kaukauna man took delivery on the city police department’s Harley-Davidson three-wheeler after winning in the bidding Tuesday evening. Robert C. Vandenberg submitted the bid of $665 for the old Harley.

A statement about continuing problems of heath care for all and continuing progress at Kaukauna’s Community Hospital was presented at the annual meeting of the members of the corporation. “State and federal controls and policies will make it hard to steer the ship” hospital administrator Roger Anderson told the organization.

Saying good-bye to something you love is never easy. That’s what five Kaukauna high school seniors must face after tonight’s game with Menasha. The fivesome, which includes.

Postal rates will join the list of items which prices are rising. The new rate of 10 cents for first class letters will go in effect this Saturday according to postmaster Art Koehn.

The Wisconsin Avenue bridge is going down. A crane was brought in to remove the old electric line towers. The steel removal of the bridge is to be completed by Monday.

Kaukauna High School's Reed Giordana, for the second straight year, captured the scoring title in the Fox Valley Association basketball conference, scoring 282 points in the 14-game span of league play. Last year Giordana took the title with 290 points and that, in addition to his sophomore year points on varsity, gives him a total of 970 points, just 33 away from the KHS all-time scoring record, which is presently held by LeRoy Weyenberg with 1,003 points. With tournament action still remaining, Giordana has a legitimate shot at the record, but it appears that the Ghosts must win at least one game for him to do so, which would provide Giordana with two games instead of one to surpass the mark. Rarely does a single player total 30 or more points against a Kimberly team, the Ghosts' first opponent in the tournament.
