Several thousand people
from Kaukauna and surrounding cities and villages are expected to pass through
the model home at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Diedrich Street over the
weekend when it will be open to the public. The newly constructed home of Mr.
and Mrs. C. J. Hansen contains seven rooms and a bath, has been completely
furnished by the B.W. Fargo Company with the latest in-home furnishings.
The FERA project on Crooks Avenue to widen the
road and construct a sidewalk and railing was started Wednesday. Today thirty
men were working on this project. The work on Plank Road started Wednesday and
in one more week the storm sewer in the alley between Third and Fourth Street
will be completed.
The construction of new residences in and about
the City of Kaukauna is at a higher level at the present time than it has been
for a number of years.
That Hitler still retains his power in Germany
and his grip on the German imagination is shown in his Reichstag speech. Hailed
with frantic acclaim in the street of Berlin by the people under his thumb.

Approximately 2,500
Kaukauna citizens got a glimpse of the president of the United States, Franklin
D. Roosevelt, as he passed through here yesterday morning. A broad smile and a
wave of the hand from the president greeted the huge crowds which had their
eyes glued on the presidential train. A cheer went up as the familiar figure
appeared in the rear window, and the crowd returned the President's infectious
smile.
Kaukauna has the
distinction of having the first sons of the Legion drum and bugle corps in the
state of Wisconsin. The group was presented with flags at a program held on the
high school lawn Wednesday.
The Kaukauna common
council at its meeting Tuesday evening amended the ordinance regulating the
sale of liquor in the city abolishing the limitation of 20 taverns.

How would you like to see a real honest-to-good
African rhinoceros in the flesh? Well, you’re going to get that chance to see
one at close range and be able to touch the thick armorlike skin.
Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer pictures are sending one this way to make appearances in
front of the Vaudette Theater.

Jake Baeten, Wrightstown, passed away at a Green
Bay hospital from injuries received in an auto accident last Thursday morning.
He was riding in a car that struck a milk truck. Another passenger in the car
Fred Woodke died at the scene. The driver of the car Jack Calaway escaped
without serious injury.
Federal agents made four raids in Kaukauna over the past weekend and made four arrests. A prohibition agent dressed as a bum, had made a purchase of a pint of "moon" of each of the residents prior to the raids. They were Ervin Weber, William Chopin, George Walsh and Irvin Besaw, all of Kaukauna.

There will be plenty of thrills as well as laughs.
